The starting rank of NAF is Aircraftman (ACM), and the max rank is the Air Chief Marshall. As you move up in rank, you earn a higher salary.

For example, an Airman is paid #53,000 per month, while an Air Chief Marshall receives up to N1,724,283 monthly.

NAF Ranks: The Different Ranks In NAF

When it comes to the NAF Ranks, there are different ranks that one can hold. Each rank has a set of responsibilities and expectations that come with it. Firstly, the ranks is divided into two groups, the commissioned officers and the Non Commissioned officers. The Commissioned officers are those who went to the Nigerian Defence Academy and are Commissioned with the rank of Pilot Officer or those that joined the NAF as a Graduate. Those that join the NAF as a Graduate are also referred to as DSSC which also mean Direct Short Service Commission. The NAF non commissioned officers are those that went to BMTC for the period of 6 months before they become air Force personnel.

Generally, those commissioned officers position have more responsibilities than those who are in a non commissioned position. But there are also different levels of leadership. For instance, a squadron leader is in a higher leadership position than a flight sergeant.

In order to achieve the rank of squadron leader, one must have at least 10 years of experience in the Nigerian Air Force. And to achieve the rank of Air Vice Marshall, one must have at least 20 years of experience. Below is the complete NAF ranks

NAF Salary Structure 2024 (Nigerian Air Force)

Officer cadets that just graduated as  pilot officers start on a salary of N187,150. which is pretty good. But it gets even better. After 5 years of service. Also when you become a senior officer, your salary increases to N248,007. And then, after 10 years of service, your salary may be up N250,000. Below is the complete NAF Salary 2023.
