On Friday, local media reported that Australia had started repatriating its citizens held in detention camps in Syria.

The citizens are children and women who were sent to Syria at a young age and married off to ISIS and Daesh terrorists.

Thirteen children and four women are the first group evacuated from the Roj camp in the northeast of the country.

According to ABC News, they were transferred to the Iraqi border where they boarded a plane to return home.

Many countries have repatriated their citizens from detention camps in Syria since 2019 after the defeat of ISIS/Daesh in the country.
