The Eastern Security Network, ESN, has began a manhunt for hoodlums imposing an unapproved Monday lockdown known as a "sit-at-home" in southeastern Nigeria.

The local vigilante set up by Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), took the decision following worsening violence and crimes perpetrated by the hoodlums belonging to a gang led by  Finland—based blogger Simon Ekpa.

Sources indicated on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 that a special ESN team was dispatched to monitor and apprehend the perpetrators of the violence "on Mondays and other days that the IPOB has not announced a sit-  at-home" in the eastern region.

According to the report, the security exercise has started in Imo and parts of Anambra State.

“Operations have also started in Enugu and other parts of Biafraland,” the source from IPOB said.

IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful have not confirm the report, but he had said in previous press statements that ESN would begin the manhunt and apprehend the perpetrators of violence and crimes in the South-East.
