Hungary says it will respond to any attack on TurkStream pipeline

Prime Minister Viktor Orban

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Friday that the country would react accordingly to any attack on the TurkStream gas pipeline, which carries gas from Russia to Turkey, Hungary and European countries.

Orban said this to state media, after Russia announced on Thursday that Ukraine was trying to damage the TurkStream gas pipeline.

Such an attack will be considered an act of terrorism, Orban said, reports Anadolu Agency.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said week that Ukrainian special services were targeting Russia's critical infrastructure— including energy systems, noting that the plot to blow up the TurkStream gas pipeline was part of the "terrorist attack."

Nord Stream gas pipeline leak and the Druzhba oil spill in Poland sparked tensions, putting Russia and other countries in the region on high alert.
