A new military raid left one civilian dead and 12 civilian houses burnt down in Mbessa, a village in the Boyo Division of the Southwest region of Cameroon.

The invasion took place on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Residents who fled the village said the Cameroonian soldiers invaded the village, brutalized civilians and also fired sporadically as they allegedly searched for armed separatist fighters, who were later not found.

MIMI quoted a local saying that the civilian killed in the invasion is an old man named Halbert Nshom.

According to the report, the man was shot as he tried to flee into the bush with his son who is now missing, either captured by the army or dead.

Properties, including goats, were also taken away by the soldiers, residents of the restive community said.

Cameroonian army authorities declined to comment on the attack which is one of the latest attacks against civilians by the state forces.
