Rivers State Governor, Niesom Wike, has criticized the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, for his anti-Igbo and Yoruba comment, saying it is very divisive.

Atiku on Saturday urged the Arewa Joint Committee in Kaduna not to allow an Igbo or Yoruba person to become the next president of Nigeria.

The former vice president told the group that the average northerner needs someone from the North to become the president.

Wike who joined others to condemn the statement made by Atiku, said it is proof that Atiku does not want equality and justice in the PDP and the whole of Nigeria.

Atiku and the PDP owe Nigerians an apology for the comments, said Wike who spoke when he returned from a trip abroad.

The Rivers State governor pointed out that the divisive comment could cause the PDP to lose the confidence of Nigerians and fail in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
