North Korea extended its warning to Japan, saying it would pay high price if it continued the alleged persecution of its nationals in the country.

The warning follows reports of an increase in hate crimes against ethnic Koreans studying at schools across Japan.

According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the firing of a new type of intermediate-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile on October 4, 2022 was a warning to North Korea's enemies.

The  North Korea's state news agency added that Tokyo will seriously pay for actions directed against North Korea.

Japan has not refuted that hate crimes are targeted against ethnic Koreans, as noted.
