Nigeria: UK issues fresh terror alert, warn its citizens

The United Kingdom has issued a fresh terror alert to its citizens in Nigeria, warning them to avoid travelling to other listed 12 states and Abuja the federal capital territory.

The latest terror alert issued on Monday by UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in its updated foreign advisory to its citizens in Nigeria, said

“The FCDO no longer advises against all but essential travel to the Federal Capital Territory, including the city of Abuja, but risks remain, and further details about the continued threat from terrorism in this region have been added. The FCDO advises against travelling to other areas of Nigeria remains in place.

“The FCDO advises against all travel to Borno State, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, and the riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.”

It also advised “against all but essential travel to Bauchi State, Kano Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, Kogi, within 20km of the border with Niger in Kebbi State, Abia, non-riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers states, Plateau, and Taraba states.”

The warning by UK government came barely two weeks it issued a terror alert warning its citizens against traveling to or around Abuja over planned attack by terrorists in the country.
