Panic as soldiers invade Abia community again

The invasion of Amangwu Ohafia community by Nigerian soldiers has caused panic among locals as many flee the community where a previous military invasion left civilians dead and houses burned down.

The invasion of the community located Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State began in the early hours of Thursday, November 3, 2022, residents said.

According to reports, the troops arrived at the village in Hilux vans and dogs.

Assaults on civilians are reported, but no one was confirmed killed or arrested in the early hours of Thursday.

“They are chasing people away and also preventing women from accessing markets," a source said.

The reason for the new invasion is unknown, but locals suggest it could be linked to the military operation to search for separatists in the southeast.
